Lauren Ridloff, born deaf, is set to play the first deaf superhero in Marvel's cinematic universe, starring alongside Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Salma Hayek in The Eternals as speedster Makkari, one of a group of immortal individuals with God-like powers.

The American actress and former Miss Deaf America made her professional acting debut in 2018 Broadway play Children of a Lesser God, earning a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Play, before starring in series nine of The Walking Dead, as fan favourite Connie.
